Today again a very luxury setting for diner ... and the fun part is, I never heard of it before, heard about the chef though, and my lovely TomTom couldn't find it because the city of lovely Amsterdam changed the numbers of the street ... It's a perfect place (since you can park your car pretty easy) lovely scenery in this part of Amsterdam as well. It's a kind of bungalow, two stories high, dining at the second floor. The atmosphere is a bit old. But most important what about the food ...
Amuse Blood sausage (Black Pudding) "Zure zult" Chicken in crust with a dragon sauce
Starter nougat of duck liver, almonds, pistachios, rice-paper and pumpkin oil
Main course sweetbread / en francais - ris de veau / nl - kalfszwezerik crispy sautéed sweet bread, green cabbage with macadamia nuts and jus of duck liver, sherry vinegar and pedro ximenez
Dessert chocolate croquette with pear compote, clove ice-cream and Banyuls syrop
The Amuse was pretty good, the starter was fairly small for the price we needed to pay - that was in fact for all courses, prices were not according to the servings - no nouvelle cuisine for me. The entire diner was pretty small so you're still a bit hungry afterwards. The Sweetbread was perfect, didn't like the garnish a lot and didn't taste all the garnish mentioned. The dessert was the weak piece the chocolate was not great and the garnish again not on a very high level. I expected more from this restaurant. Prices are very high for this meal, a bit too high to my taste. Well the next item on the agenda is winetasting lessons tomorrow, thursday a quite evening and friday a special winetasting ... so to be continued,
